While waiting for the Bruins’ top line (David Krejci-Milan Lucic-Nathan Horton) to catch fire,Bruins coach Claude Julien can be content with the production generated by lines No. 2 (Patrice Bergeron-Brad Marchand-Mark Recchi) and No. 3 (Rich Peverley-Chris Kelly-Michael Ryder).
The supplemental scoring provided by the third-liners has been especially critical, with Peverley and Ryder accounted for the two game-winners in Montreal.
Not to be overlooked is the grittiness of Kelly, who didn’t let a head-first tumble into a goal post (after being tripped by the Habs’ Scott Gomez in Game Three), and resultant facial bruises stop him from netting two goals in those games, either.
Kelly, who wore a full face cage in Game Four, scored the crucial tying goal that led to Ryder’s dramatic overtime clincher.
